Day no pigs would die

Robert saves the neighbors cow it was choking on a hard ball. Robert receives a pig as a gift from a neighbor. He and the pig become best friends.Robert names the pig Pinky. Haven Peck is Robert's role model. Haven never tells Robert that he is proud of what he did for Mr. Tanner's cow, and he never tells him that he is a good boy. But yet Robert likes his father.
Mr. Tanner talks about how Robert saved his cow, but Haven tries to make it so Robert doesn't get to excited that he saved it. Haven reminds Robert that he did skip school and that is very bad thing to do.
Haven gives Robert a piece of spruce gum. He also explains to Robert that sumac had come into season and shows him a piece that he had cut with the intent of making it into a whistle. This way if he gets in trouble he can blow it.

  1. we have read that story before in school. I thought it was strange how they could make a story about a regular farm and turn it into such and adventure. Well, I guess it wasn't much of adventure, but story.
